Great news from yet another alum! Annie sent me an email letting me know that one of her lovely images of her mother has been included in The Kiernan Gallery’s online exhibition of Family Dynamics which was juried by Henry Horenstein! Go Annie! Here’s the image that was included:

Art Update from Keiko Hiromi FT ’05

Wow, have I got an update for you! Keiko has been busy as ever, and she’s had an amazing string of exhibitions starting this fall and she’s still going!

First up, she was in a two person exhibition at Project Basho in Philadelphia that featured her work from the series “Monadnock Street”. The show was titled Within Reach and ran from Oct. 14 – Nov. 23, 2011 and also featured the work of Tamaki Obuchi.

Keiko then had a solo show in Tokyo at Gallery Bauhaus from Nov. 1 – Dec. 24 titled Drag Queen 2011 and was even featured by the French magazine, “Photo” as a show to see in Tokyo! “I am happy to tell you that my show in Tokyo went superb: could not ask anything better ” Here’s one of her images from the show:

And to top it all off, she is included in a spectacular line up of photographers for the Gallery Bauhaus 5^th Anniversary exhibition that runs from Jan. 11 – Mar. 31, 2012! Just to drop some names of who else is in the show…. Robert Frank, Robert Doisneau and Hiroshi Sugimoto! This is one of the two photographs that Keiko has in the exhibition:

John Benford FT ’11 First Solo Show

Great news again for the class of 2011 – John Benford will be showing his Farm Series at the art gallery at Natick Community Organic Farm in February and March, 2012. Mark Werbeloff FT ’01 included in Musuem School’s Art Sale

He wanted me to pass along that he has work included in the School of the Museum of Fine Art Boston’s Annual Art Sale that runs from December 8-11, 2011 from 10am until 8pm each day. Class of 2011 Update

Well well well. This is a big update. I’ve gotten news from three members of the class of 2011 that I thought I’d pass along.

First up, Tommy Chevalier is getting work picked up by the New England Post – congrats Tommy! Check out his images HERE where he catches Russell Simmons in Boston speaking to the Occupy Boston movement. Also take a look at his images that accompanied THIS STORY about another Boston rally about potential cutbacks in social services.

Next up, Yusuke Suzuki is featured this month as the PRC’s NEO (that stands for Photographic Resource Center’s Northeast Exposure Online)! Check out the full curatorial statement and Yusuke’s artist statement about his compelling images Muslims in America by clicking HERE.

Finally, Scott M. Lacey was featured yesterday (Nov. 16th, 2011) on the Profoto International Blog! Great write up about Scott’s blog and a post he wrote, and some glowing comments about his stellar photography in general. Josh Kuchinsky Published!

I got an update from Josh at the end of the summer about some awesome accomplishments.

First up, he was hired by the New York Times to photograph a beautiful old house in JP. Here’s one of the images:

The article is a feature in the real estate section “What you get for … $” and the home and all nine of his photographs are gorgeous! Check out the slideshow HERE

In addition, he had work included in the annual edition of Southern New England Home, where he photographed a beautiful Shingle-style home in Woods Hole, MA.

Cynthia Delaney Travel Workshops and More

An update came in from an alumna out west, Cynthia Delaney class of 1990 in the Applied Photo Program. She has a wonderful array of workshops and projects going on that I thought I’d pass along.

She is regularly leading Photo Workshop Tours around the globe, with one this past year to Costa Rica/Nicaragua, Turkey and Greece in 2012 and India and Botswana are in the works for 2013!!

She also teaches at Great Basin College in Nevada and due out this October or November is her first book, Rural Nevada: A Photographer’s Guide to the American Outback. Congratulations on the first publication from us here at NESOP!

Gallery Opening Thursday Sept. 8th!

So, if you haven’t noticed the lovely sidebar to your right on the screen, now is the time to look around. Thursday evening, September 8th the wonderful gallery across the street, Panopticon Gallery is having the opening reception for their 40th anniversary show. And the reason I’m mentioning it again is that we’ve got four NESOP’ers included! Alum Sam Quinn FT ’09 and then three faculty members – Bill Franson, Steve Sheffield and Michael Hintlian! The show will run through the end of October, but come swing by tomorrow evening and say hello!

And as for a tiny preview, here’s Michael’s image that will be on view:

Art Update from Aaron McElroy

I recently heard from Aaron McElroy, class of 2007 and he had quite a bit of good news to share.

His work was included in the magazine Capricious Issue 11 and because of that opportunity he was invited to take part in a four person exhibition in Amsterdam at the FOAM Photography Museum! Click HERE for more information.

Some images from the same body of work were also included in the New York Photo Festival at Smack Mellon Gallery.

His work was also recently included in a Humble Arts Foundation publication The Collector’s Guide to New Art Photography Vol. 2, available HERE

Finally, he has a few images in another publication that was compiled and edited by “Self Publish, Be Happy” the book titled Self Publish, Be Naughty. For more information, click HERE
